Citing security deficiencies, yesterday Google announced that Chrome browser support (the most widely used browser today on all platforms) would end next year for certain Windows and Apple OS X operating systems.
After a day much of the net seems to be blowing up over this. Windows XP (14 years old and very outdated) and Windows Vista (9 years old and very outdated) as well as Apple OS X up to 10.8 (Mountain Lion, 2 years old) are the affected operating systems. Not surprising given the age of the Windows versions involved.
If you're still running one of those you aren't getting security updates anymore and should not be using on any PC that you go online with and expect to be secure. Now that Google is all concerned about security deficiencies maybe they can address the many problems that continue to arise in the fractured Android deployments and in SDKs developed by Chinese giant Baidu that took advantage of a broken permission system on Android.
